Education
By providing access to technology for every student from Kindergarten-age through the junior high level, the award-winning Wood Dale School District 7 gives its K-8 students the ability to connect with the world around them in ways that put them ahead in their education. Small class sizes, an emphasis on creative learning early intervention and dual-language classes provide opportunities for all students to succeed and thrive. With a student enrollment of approximately 1,500 students, Fenton High School offers an unusual combination of a suburban school education within a personalized, small-school environment.
Recreation
With local access to two outstanding Park Districts, Wood Dale residents can take advantage of recreational and fitness facilities, programs, gymnasiums and indoor walking tracks, outdoor courts, a dog park, two water parks, and numerous local neighborhood and community parks.
The Salt Creek Greenway Trail, which runs through the City, is a scenic multi-use trail that winds 25 miles from Elk Grove Village to the Brookfield Zoo. DuPage County has a wealth of information about the many interconnected bikeways and trails throughout the county.
Golfers will enjoy access to three public courses in town plus the Midwest’s first Top Golf facility, a fun, semi-enclosed three-tier driving range with food and entertainment.
Libraries
The Wood Dale Public Library District exists to provide access to library houses a collection of more than 100,000 items with an annual circulation of 150,000. The library provides materials and programs to encourage literacy and promote learning. The library is also part of the System Wide Automated Network that provides consolidated services and materials with 78 libraries located in Chicagoland and the suburban region.
By building and fostering strong relationships with the people who live and work in the area, the Wood Dale Police Department regularly reports low crime statistics within the community. By developing programs such as the Citizen Police Academy, Wood Dale Night Out, Bike Patrol Unit, Seniors and Law Enforcement Together (S.A.L.T.) and Volunteer Service Program, the award-winning Wood Dale Police Department identifies problems, understands expectations and solves issues affecting the City.
Shopping & Dining
Wood Dale has two main shopping centers along Irving Park Road that serve the needs of the community. National retailers like Target, GNC, Auto Zone and Albertsons co-mingle with locally-owned retailers providing everything from groceries, to hardware, to beauty supplies.
Just beyond the Wood Dale City limits, but within 15 minutes driving time, you’ll find some of the region’s busiest shopping malls like Woodfield Mall and Oakbrook Center, both extremely popular destinations.
